Four products, three teams, and no agreement on what a button was. This is the system that settled it — tokens, a component library, and the documentation that made both stick.
The hard part was never the components. It was getting three teams to adopt something none of them had written, so the rollout shipped codemods alongside the library and migrated the first product end to end before asking anyone else to look at it.
Tokens are the contract. Everything above them — Figma variables, the CSS layer, the docs site — is generated from one source, so a change lands everywhere or nowhere.
